SFMOMA selfie

AFTER WE WERE AT CODEX VII in early February, we stayed a few days in San Francisco, getting a swig of art, movies, and walking around. One trip was to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. While there we involved ourselves with a digital camera project that was both strange and interesting.

The image at the top was a self-portrait while the bottom photo shows me in the process of setting up the image.

Now to figure out how to do something like this with letterpress. You know those frames with a gazillion little metal rods which you can push onto your face, and voila, a 3D rendering of your face appears. If you could have small enough rods and some severe computer set up, you could bang out your lockup and print it. Bam. Done. Now that would be cool. I need to get to a toy store to see about finding a few of these things and seeing if they are thin enough to get into our Vandercook.
